Prestige Yachts has appointed Sundance Marine as its new Australian dealer, with ambitions to grow the luxury production-motoryacht brand Down Under and in accord with its recent announcement of eight new models for 2018 as we reported in this news article.
Prestige is part of the Beneteau Group and was formerly the name of a range of motoryachts within the Jeanneau sister-ship stable, before becoming a stand-along brand with Italian styling befitting of its badge in 2010 or thereabouts.
Over the ensuring years, quite a few Prestige 50-60 footers have been sold in Australia, especially models like the 500 Fly with its handy aft tender garage as as we tested it.
Relative to the market, the Prestige tend to be keenly priced, generous with their volume, and modestly powered.
Like a lot of European motoryachts, they aren't weighed down by big engines with huge fuel tanks that might be infrequently needed (and add unnecessary cost) in their intended pleasure-boat markets.
Nimble pod drives and joysticks are employed instead and markets like Sydney Harbour, Pittwater and Port Phillip Bay are a good fit for the boats.
Sundance Marine, which has a strong portfolio of European brands including Beneteau, CNB, Monte Carlo and Invictus, will distribute the Prestige brand from its central Sydney office at Jones Bay Wharf on Sydney Harbour.
Sundance Director David Beck said the opportunity to partner with the team at Prestige is extremely exciting.
“The extensive range of luxury motor yachts has seen over 4000 boats delivered since the brands creation in 1989. We’re pleased to be involved with the future growth and development of the brand in the Australian market,” he said.
Prestige offers a range of coupe and flybridge models from 42 feet to 75 feet, with “signature light-filled open spaces to ensure the feeling of home.”
