Italian shipwright Azimut has provided a tantalising glimpse of the new Azimut 53 Fly that will plug an important hole in its flybridge line-up.
According to Azimut, the Azimut 53 Fly is “perfect for a family who want to enjoy long cruises in absolute comfort”.
“The exterior design characterised by a sophisticated aesthetic is by Alberto Mancini, who continues to work in the direction defined with the Shipyard for the latest models in the Flybridge and S collections,” it said.
“The elegant interiors are designed in a contemporary style by the Azimut Style Office.”
The Azimut 53 Fly is designed for families that want to spend extended periods out on the water, slipping nicely into the popular 50-foot cruising motor yacht segment.
“The solution was to combine multiple existing solutions in such a way as to create something new, significantly extending both the space on board and our perception of it,” Azimut, which also owns luxury motor yacht marque Benetti, said.
“The generously proportioned day area is laid out on almost the same level, with the galley near the entrance and the living area separated by a difference in height of just 25 centimetres.
“The surprising sense of airiness and freedom of movement that this creates is enhanced by side windows that run uninterrupted, with no uprights, from just beyond the entrance area to the windscreen.
“As a result, natural light and the view over the water are the undisputed protagonists of the yacht, adding to the pleasure of spending time on board.”
Azimut said the use of Volvo Penta pod drive systems helped keep the new Azimut 53 Fly’s centre of gravity low, and reduced the amount of space needed for an engine room.
The version of the motor yacht equipped with twin Volvo Penta IPS 950 IPS pod drive systems will comfortably cruise at 27 knots, topping out at more than 30 knots.
This in turn meant Azimut could reduce the height of the step between the galley and the saloon.
Below decks, an amidships master stateroom runs the full beam of the Azimut 53 Fly, with full standing headroom. The design includes a VIP cabin in the bow, and a third twin bed cabin.
A lobby space at the bottom of the companionway includes space for a washer and dryer
The Azimut 53 Fly breaks convention by having a single staircase leading down from the cockpit to the swim platform and access to the transom storage or crew cabin.
Both the foredeck and flybridge are equipped with sunpads, with the upper level also including a dinette that converts into a second lounge area.
Azimut has not revealed its timing for the full reveal of the 53 Fly.
