Riviera has officially launched the newest member of its flybridge-equipped bluewater cruiser range, marking the debut of the Riviera 58 Sports Motor Yacht with a special event for new owners.
The new owners’ event, held at Riviera’s Coomera-based factory on the Gold Coast, marked the first boat’s arrival off the production line.
The new model, first announced at the 2023 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, was dropped in the water for the first time, docking so that guests attending the launch could climb aboard and take their first look at the completed build.
Riviera’s Sports Motor Yacht long-range adventure range was launched six years ago with the first model, the 68 SMY, launched in 2017 as the company's flagship. It has since expanded to include the 46 SMY, 50 SMY, 64 SMY and Riviera’s new flagship SMY model, the 72.
The new Riviera 58 Sports Motor Yacht, which fills an important size gap in the line-up, includes three levels of living with below-deck accommodations ranging across three staterooms and bathrooms.
“Riviera’s Sports Motor Yachts are uniquely specified craft that rewards owners with endless adventures, enjoyed in ultimate luxury,” Riviera said in a statement marking the new model’s debut.
“And the 58 SMY will offer all the Sports Motor Yacht essentials including all-watersports cockpit, walk-around side decks, foredeck lounge and entertaining zone, all-weather alfresco deck entertaining, and a spacious, luxurious saloon with internal staircase to a fully enclosed, air-conditioned flybridge and state-of-the-art helm.”
Similar to other models in Riviera’s line-up, the Riviera 58 Sports Motor Yacht’s interior features premium fabrics, modern lounges and hand-finished cabinetry.
Options for the new model include a Targa-style arch and solar array for the flybridge hardtop, and stabilisation via either a gyroscope tucked under the cockpit floor or stabilisers mounted forward, giving more space in the lazarette.
Powering the new model is a pair of Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350 diesel engines, each delivering 1000hp. The engines are paired with Volvo Penta’s Glass Cockpit system as well as Assisted Docking, a feature that allows owners to take control of the boat using a joystick.
The joystick system makes large boat ownership much easier, allowing owners to hold the boat at station at the press of a button, and move the boat precisely at low speed even while factoring in wind and current.
The Riviera 58 Sports Motor yacht will make its US debut at the 2024 Miami International Boat Show from February 14-18.
