Twinfisher's smooth look

Choice of flat or clinker hulls

Websters Twinfisher range of catamaran-hulled fishing boats will now be offered in flat-sided aluminium plate as well as the company's traditional "clinker look" hulls.

The new flat sided hulls have a more contemporary look and a manufactured from 3mm aluminium rather than the 2.5mm aluminium used for the clinker hulls.

Models ranging from 4.3 metres to 5.2 metres can now be supplied in either form as a no-cost alternative. Like all Websters Twinfishers, the new flat-sided boats need only a single outboard rather than the twin engine setup required on most catamarans. This gives a significant cost and fuel saving.

Daniel Schofield, the co-director of Websters, says the flat sided hull in proving popular with customers across the country.

"The seed of the idea for the flat sided hull actually came as a request from our Brisbane dealer, Northside Marine," Schofield says. "We built a boat for them to display at the Sunshine Coast International Boat Show and it has taken off from there."

"The overwhelming feedback from dealers and customers is really strong. Both clinker and flat side designs have their fans, it just comes down to a matter of personal choice."

Many pressed aluminium boats have traditionally had clinker ridges stamped into the side sheets of the hull to improve the sheer strength of the hull and to allow the use of lighter gauge sheet to keep the boat's weight down to acceptable limits.

But with improved grades of aluminium now available and as construction standards improve, Websters Twinfisher can now produce high-quality flat sided hulls.

Schofield says the clinker look appeals to traditionalists and says the fore and aft pressings can make the boat appear longer. He says the flat sided hull gives a more contemporary, smoother look that is complemented by the company’s high shine powder-coated finish and striking graphics.

The new hulls are available as either runabouts or centre console models and, like all Websters Twinfisher boats, are manufactured wholly in the central NSW city of Orange.
