Sydney-based Short Marine and Queensland’s Game and Leisure Boats – both recognised as distributors for some of Australia’s biggest and best high-performance sports fishing and leisure boats – have announced a merger.
The move also makes the newly formed group – although each will keep its name – a national distributor for Grady-White boats. Other brands managed under the newly merged group include Viking, Valhalla, Hatteras, Cabo and Capelli, and in Queensland, Regal and Caribbean.
Under the terms of the merger, the Mosman-based Short Marine team of Ryan and Sam Short will start to spend time at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast working with Game and Leisure Boats dealer principal Graham McCloy, who will remain on the Gold Coast.
“Boating is what people look forward to on the weekend,” Ryan Short said.
“It’s responsible for creating memories that stick with families for lifetimes like it has with us. Most importantly, we believe the Gold Coast and Sydney are the two best places to go boating in Australia and the world.
“We really think there is a market for all of their world-class brands we do not already cover, such as Viking and Valhalla, to be marketed in Sydney,” he said.
As well as its 10-strong Sydney-based sales team, Short Marine has 25 people working in its service department that cleans, services and repairs customers’ boats.
The team comprises experienced shipwrights, mechanics, electricians, detailers, service and client relations managers, as well as the sales team.
Short Marine’s Mosman haul-out facility handles up to 20 boats a week, with the potential to offer the same level of service on the Gold Coast.
It also is a retailer for engine, electronics and accessories brands the group also retails, including Yamaha, Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, and Furuno.
“This is all about representing the world’s best brands in each category, and we are delighted to have the expanded full service offering to provide for our clients,” McCloy said.
“You can expect more of what you love about Game and Leisure.”
