Netherlands-based high-end luxury boat-builder Zeelander has revealed a new version of its Zeelander 5 that is just as much a work of art as it is a boat.
Few details have been released about the new 15-metre sedan-style motor yacht, but an accompanying video shows a long, sleek design with the distinctive Zeelander reversed-rake transom.
The video shows the Zeelander 5 with the topdeck fringed in a low stainless steel rail, broken in sections to provide almost invisible cleats for securing the boat to a jetty.
Interestingly, the Zeelander 5 looks as though it uses sailboat-style electric winches to help pull the boat gently in alongside with minimal effort.
The design also houses the anchor in the stem, creating clean lines around the almost vertical bow.
Rather than break the sides with long windows, Zeelander has lined the hull in pairs of low-set vertical rectangles.
But the Zeelander 5 also looks to have a party trick, with a pair of aft sunbeds that on first impressions appear to come out of a fold-down transom section.
Zeelander claims the new 5 will be “whisper quiet” while running, with the video showing a pair of what look like Volvo Penta dual-prop pod drives sitting proud below the hull.
Volvo Penta is in the middle of a strong campaign to hybridise its marine engines, so the low noise may be attributed to the fact that this may be a diesel-electric engine that will allow silent running in last-mile applications such as entering or leaving a marina.
Below decks, it’s all stained timber, wave-like surface finishes and leather.
No date was given for the full reveal of the Zeelander 5, although first deliveries of the new model are expected to land next year.
