High-end aluminium plate boat brand Yellowfin will show its new Extended Cabin range at the 2024 Sydney International Boat Show just weeks after its official launch.
The new Extended Cabin range replaces the former Southerner models in the Yellowfin line-up. Featuring up to 45 per cent more protected space inside the cabin, Yellowfin has launched the range with the 6.99-metre YF-70 Extended Cabin and the 7.48-metre YF-76 Extended Cabin.
Lloyd Jaber, the global product strategy manager for BRP Marine’s Asia-Pacific arm, said the Southerner line on which the new Extended cabin models are based was one of the most popular offshore fishing boats on the market, prompting an overhaul of the design from hull to fit and finish.
“The design is derived from customer and dealer feedback, and the minds of our industry-leading research and development team,” Jaber said.
“The end result: a product that exceeds expectations, meets unmet needs and raises the bar of the offshore fishing industry.
“We are hungry to continue innovating and breaking ground with new designs – the Extended Cabin range is a testament to that,” he said.
“It is an extremely proud moment to bring the Extended Cabin range to the Sydney International Boat Show and deliver a high-end range of plate boats to every Australian, whilst maintaining one of the most competitive, attainable price points in the market.”
Renaming the model has also ensured the Extended Cabin name “speaks more to the configuration than one region”.
The Yellowfin YF-70 and YF-76 Extended Cabins use what is called the HD-R hull to deliver what Yellowfin claims is “unmatched ride performance with increased stability and cut through following a reconfiguration of the planing strakes and centre of gravity of the preceding Offshore HD Hull design”.
Meanwhile, the way the Extended Cabin models are built has changed, with a “scientifically engineered Inter-Lok Core”, which uses two full-height stringers, eight full-length one-piece stringers, and interlocking ribs to add strength to the hull.
“Moving to the interior, the Extended Cabin features an array of standard features, exclusive to the range including full floor EVA matting and trim for its heat-resistant and non-slip properties, whilst delivering enhanced comfort afoot, reduced vibration and noise, and elevated aesthetics,” Yellowfin says.
The increase in cabin space allows three people to stand side-by-side at the console, with the enhanced dash real estate enabling a 16.0-inch and 19.0-inch sounder to fit side-by-side, and a widened cabin entry.
The version of the YF-76 on display in Sydney includes Yellowfin’s optional Fishing Edition package.
Crafted to meet the needs of avid offshore fishos, the Fishing Edition includes a range of fishing-centric features including a deluxe bait station, deck wash, lockable roller door on the cabin, dual suspension seats, underwater lights, Garmin VHF radio and much more, plus an exclusive U-Dek flooring and stripe colour only available on Fishing Edition models.
“Experienced fishos will be proud to know that our very own fishing ambassador Michael Guest has inspired us to release the special Fishing Edition version of our boat which offers exclusive features and takes fishing to the next level,” Jaber says.
The Yellowfin YF-70 and YF-76F will be on display at the Hunts Marine and TR Marine stands located at areas 101-104 in the International Convention Centre Sydney at Darling Harbour. The 2024 Sydney International Boat Show runs from August 1-4.
