Yellowfin Plate will raise the bar of its Australian-built offshore boat range with the launch of 14 new models in May.
The new model expansion will increase the Yellowfin range from its current 10 boats, giving buyers more choice to find the perfect boat fit to suit Australia’s unique and diverse fishing environments.
“After 35 years of building some of the best fishing boats on the market, we decided we needed to go the extra step,” said Stuart Morgan, Yellowfin Plate’s research and development chief.
“We’ve gone back to the drawing board and thought how we could make things better, and realised giving buyers more choice over the boat they wanted was key.”

The new and updated range of boats have been under development at the company’s Coomera-based 2000-square-metre factory, tapping into the skills of its aluminium plate boat specialist staff.
Yellowfin Plate has been building its range of offshore fishing boats since 1984.
Tantalisingly few details about what the new range will encompass have been released ahead of the line-up’s official launch. The official Yellowfin Plate Boats website hints that models potentially being made over include the 6200, 6500, 7600, and 7000 Southerner HT models.
Yellowfin Plate’s Offshore HD hull is a design that makes the boats perfectly balanced to give the ultimate soft, stable and dry ride.
Influenced by commercial captains, Yellowfin Plate boats come equipped with everything needed for fishing. For the first time, owners who prefer more comfort will be able to tick the option for a Platinum Pack, details of which will be revealed when the new Yellowfin range is launched in early May.
Yellowfin Plate said the “finer details are what matters most” for the model updates.
“Through detailed market research, Yellowfin Plate has identified an extensive list of ‘one percenters’, the small things that elevate the boat’s finish and dramatically enhance fishability,” it said.
Yellowfin Plate boats are made in a purpose-built factory. Each boat coming off the line requires more than 100 hours of welding by 17 skilled specialists.
It said the boats were designed for serious anglers, and tested under extreme conditions by eight full-time naval research and development professionals.
