Yanmar Safety Recall In Hand
Power Equipment, the Australian distributor of Yanmar marine and industrial engines, said the global safety recall announced by Yanmar Marine International has had minimal impact on the Australian marketThe recall applies to all 4BY and 6BY models.
A company bulletin advised that "In our continuing effort to provide quality products and exceptional customer service, Yanmar Marine International is voluntarily issuing a global recall of pressurized fuel hoses that are components in Yanmar marine engines known as models 4BY and 6BY.
"Yanmar is not aware of any injuries or incidents involving these fuel hoses," said the bulletin.
Due to the placement of the fuel hose on 4BY and/or 6BY engines it is possible that the line could leak or rupture.
Power Equipment in Australia has tracked all 4BY and 6BY units shipped to Yanmar authorised dealers and OEM customers, and advised them of the recall.
Likewise all Yanmar BY units currently in store have been rectified with the Yanmar factory re-work.
"While this is a relatively minor problem and one which is easily rectified, we take any recall that involves the fuel system very seriously," said Michael Blair, national marine sales manager for Power Equipment.
"We certainly want to re-assure all Yanmar customers that there is no cause for concern and that every Yanmar BY unit in Australia is under control with this issue," he said.
Yanmar Marine offers engines, drive systems and accessories for boats from family runabouts, sailboats to mega yachts, and Power Equipment is the exclusive and authorised Australian distributor of Yanmar Marine.
