Yamaha Motor Australia has created an EX Blaster, a one-off concept model based on the iconic 1993-model Wave Blaster, using a 2017-model grey/red EX Deluxe.
The retro watercraft, wrapped in the classic purple and orange 1993 Blaster livery, was launched at Melbourne boat show, will feature at the 50th Sydney International Boat Show from August 3, and the Brisbane Boat Show from August 25.
The idea behind the concept was to create a statement piece linking Yamaha's watercraft history where the iconic 1993 Wave Blaster was a hit with the all-new EX series of extra affordable WaveRunners.
Back in the Nineties, the iconic Wave Blaster was heralded as one of the most exciting watercraft ever. Since then, Yamaha’s Personal Watercraft have evolved to accommodate the rider demands for more features, equipment, stability, versatility and storage. This meant that the WaveRunners grew in size and performance.
Realising there's still a place for back-to-basics, Yamaha put the personal back in personal watercraft with the introduction of the
EX Series, which we reviewed favourably in our review in that link.
This so-called Rec-Lite series of WaveRunners is fun, playful and exciting. The EX Series also pays homage to Yamaha's watercraft roots and shares some key characteristics of the Wave Blaster of the 1990s.
Only the EX lifts capacity to three riders, suits diverse applications such as tow-sports, packs generous on-board storage, and features four-stroke efficiency from the award-winning TR-1 Marine Engine.
Meantime, the one-off EX wrapped in the classic purple and orange 1993 Blaster livery won't be hard to miss. You'll just need a matching satin jumpsuit to complete the picture.
At the 50th Sydney International Boat Show, exhibiting Yamaha Dealerships are offering free lifejackets and gear bags with all WaveRunners purchased.
Yamaha Motor Finance is making ownership easy, offering 2.99 per cent p.a. comparison rate across the complete range over 24-36 months, plus show deals on Yamaha Insurance.
