The outboard builder said that being perfectly suited to high-torque marine engine applications, the new F300 is now available in Australia.
Built on the same highly sophisticated 5.3-litre 60° 32-valve DOHC V8 engine, Yamaha said the F300 has been developed for single or twin engine applications and caters to an Australian boat market that may not be rated to 350hp.
Yamaha said its latest V8 outboard follows in the footsteps of the F350 which the company said has been a tearaway success in the Australian and world market since its release mid last year
Outscoring sterndrive engine equivalents in power to weight performance, Yamaha said its V8 outboard has found favour with both local and imported boat brands.
"The new F300 is ideal for vessels that require a lot of thrust, but not all the horsepower of the F350," said Brett Hampson, national sales and marketing manager for marine products at Yamaha Motor Australia.
"We believe there is a market in Australia where larger offshore vessels are demanding a high-torque engine without excessive power or weight.
"Inboard petrol sterndrive engines cannot compete with the technology used in our new V8 and with two horsepower options now on the table, outboard power competition has just stepped up another gear," Hampson said.
Yamaha said all its outboards have a two-year warranty, and it will extend the warranty to three years on two-strokes and four years on four-strokes provided the engine is serviced by an authorised dealer.
