Yamaha’s new range of V6-powered VMAX SHO outboard engines have officially locked in their Australian arrival.
Yamaha Marine Australia this week announced the new 4.2-litre units were scheduled to arrive here in July, and fill in the 200hp, 225hp and 250hp gaps in its product line-up.
Built primarily for the US bass boat market and designed for sharp holeshots, the engines will be ideal for anyone in need of a high-performance solution for everything ranging from skiing to tournament fishing, and general watersports.

“Our new V6 VMAX SHO outboards not only look great with their aggressive styling upgrades, redesigned cowling and eye-catching raised graphics, these high-performance engines also incorporate some great new features including Yamaha’s TotalTilt trim system, as seen on our recently launched V6 Offshore range,” Yamaha Marine national sales and marketing manager Grant Binskin said.
“We have also increased the alternator output by a massive 40 per cent, now producing 70 charging amps – enough to power an extensive range of electronic devices,” Grant said.
No other details, such as pricing, are available ahead of the Australian launch.
