Clocking up more than 530,000 sea rescues and another million first aid treatments, Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) is an Australian beach icon without peer and it is no coincidence that the organisation relies on Yamaha products to deliver the reliability and performance needed in demanding sea rescue conditions, said the outboard maker.
The SLSA, said Yamaha, rely on a range of its products to undertake sea patrol and rescue services including the Yamaha 25hp portable two-stroke outboard. The motor of choice for the majority of SLSA RIB boats across Australia, the 25hp outboard delivers the push needed to get the rescue craft beyond the breakers when timing is critical, said Yamaha.
The company said the SLSA also choose its efficient and powerful four-stroke outboards to power their larger offshore patrol boats. With a big range of powerful six and eight-cylinder four-stroke outboard variants, Yamaha said it can deliver a suite of operating benefits to the SLSA patrol boats including high torque and fuel efficient performance.
Yamaha said the introduction of its WaveRunner revolutionised aquatic rescue techniques all around the world. The WaveRunner with its high-power output, mobility and proficiency in big swell conditions make it an invaluable rescue tool, added the manufacturer.
The Yamaha XL700 has been the watercraft of choice for SLSA clubs for several years and this craft has now been replaced with the VX700 which utilises the same 700cc two-stroke motor moulded into the new smooth-handling VX hull, said the outboard maker.
Yamaha said many branches of surf life saving are now adopting Yamaha's larger four-stroke craft, the FX High Output, for long-range patrolling because of its rough-water handling ability and fuel economy, said Yamaha.
The partnership between Yamaha and the SLSA is built on a history of performance and reliability with the Yamaha corporate stand the perfect place to engage with a story that continues to save lives.
Yamaha said all its four-stroke outboards are supported with a full four-year manufacturer's warranty and all two-stroke outboards are backed by a three-year warranty (standard conditions apply).
