Yamaha extends warranties on new outboard engines, jet skis

Yamaha reacts to COVID-19 lockdowns with a three-month extension to marine product warranties

Anyone who has bought a Yamaha outboard engine or Yamaha WaveRunner jet ski during the COVID-19 pandemic have received an unexpected bonus – an extra three months on top of their existing warranty.

Yamaha Motor Australia announced yesterday that owners who bought an outboard engine or jet ski between April 1 and June 30 this year would receive the extra months for “added peace of mind in these uncertain times”.

Yamaha dealerships have remained open during the coronavirus lockdowns, offering sales, servicing, repairs parts and accessories – even though in some regions taking a boat to a marine service centre is considered non-essential and therefore leaving owners liable to a heavy fine.

However, some marine service centres offer a collection and drop-off service for owners.

Yamaha has also said if outboard engine and WaveRunner owners are unable to service their Yamaha product due to current restrictions, their warranty would remain intact.
