Yamaha announces new F200F

The world's lightest 200hp four-stroke outboard

Yamaha Motor Australia has announced the release of the new Yamaha F200F, further expanding Yamaha’s four-stroke outboard engine range. The new F200F slots into Yamaha’s high-horsepower lineup between the trusted F150A and Yamaha’s 4.2-litre V6 engines.

The company says that the new F200F features a 2.8-litre double-overhead-camshaft design utilising the efficiency and weight advantages of a four-cylinder configuration. Variable camshaft timing has been added to this engine to deliver powerful acceleration.

Yamaha’s F200F is remarkably light. At just 227kg, the F200F is the lightest 200 horsepower four stroke on the market today. That’s great news for customers looking for new-boat packages in this horsepower range as well as customers looking to upgrade their current outboard from two-stroke or DI two-stroke to the latest technology four-stroke design. With weight under 230kg, the F200F is a perfectly balanced and versatile engine option for boats in this category.

The new F200F features Yamaha’s patented Shift Dampener System (SDS) currently found in Yamaha’s 4.2-litre V6 range. This system utilises a splined rubber hub, which is designed to absorb the force created when an outboard is shifted into gear. The result is smooth, virtually noise-free shifting in and out of gear for greater durability and more pleasant operation.

The F200F is due to hit Australian shores in March. A second “G” variation will be available mid 2013. The F200G contains all the same features of the F200F, with the addition of Yamaha’s digital electronic controls (drive by wire) and the ability to connect to Yamaha’s High Definition colour display.

Both the F200F and F200G are covered by a four-year factory warranty for recreational use (conditions apply).Yamaha outboards are available through
Yamaha’s nation wide network of authorised dealers. For more information on Yamaha’s range visit the Yamaha website.
