Boating industry icon Bill Barry-Cotter has celebrated his recent Order of Australia Medal award with the release of four new models at the Sydney International Boat Show in what he says will be the best year yet for the company.
With a boatbuilding history spanning more than 50 years, Bill and his team at Maritimo plan to make 2015 a year to remember.
"The Queen’s Birthday award was unexpected and humbling and it has given me and the whole team a real boost so we are going to make 2015 Maritimo’s year," Mr Barry-Cotter said.
The company has recently publicly released its M65 and M48 Cruising Motor Yachts with both being well received and unveiled more new models at Sydney show today.
NEW YACHTFISHER ANNOUNCED
Maritimo has released plans for a modified M65 that stretches to 70 feet and provides a yachtfisher rear deck with extended cockpit perfect for long-range cruising and expedition fishing. This boat has a base price of $3.115 million.
The Gold Coast boatbuilder had its the new S48 Sedan on show, but the new M61 Cruising Motor Yacht will be delivered early in 2016, and there's a new M54 Cruising Motortacht to follow.
Maritimo’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Greg Haines, said 2015 would be a stellar year for the company. "Bill’s AM award has really sparked the excitement among the team and we are all very enthusiastic," he said.
"We had a great Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, even selling three of our ‘Baby Maritimos, the Mustang 32, and the bigger boats in our new line up have been very well received," he said.
"The 70 foot yachtfisher version of the M65 has been received with great interest and we have big interest in the M61 and the M48."
SYDNEY AND BEYOND
Mr Haines said Sydney was very big for Maritimo — all the boats will be on show at SBM Maritimo at The Spit on the following weekend from August-7-8, and then they are off to Fort Lauderdale and the World Offshore Championships in November.
"It's the biggest-ever international showing planned and even a Maritimo owners' and supporters' tour will run for diehard Maritimo owners travelling as part of a VIP group to both Fort Lauderdale and Key West for the racing.
"I don’t think there has ever been a better year in Maritimo’s history and all the planets seem to be lining up for us," Mr Haines said.
