Hugo Boss has had an amazing start to the Barcelona World Race 2014-2015. The Race started on December 31 at 13.00. Hugo Boss crossed the pin end of the start line first, placing her in the lead for the first mark rounding.
Thomson and Ribes, skippers of Hugo Boss, entered the Gibraltar Straights in the record time of two days, seven hours and 35 minutes. The Straights is considered a critical area of the race. In previous editions the Straights have provided the fleet with some of the windiest conditions in the race. The winds and sea state increase in this part of the race as the IMOCA 60s battle to leave the Mediterranean and head towards South Africa.
Thomson says the attention to detail from the technical team has played a huge part in securing the success of Hugo Boss so far in the BWR 2014-2015. Ross Daniel, Technical Director at Alex Thomson Racing said: "Alex and Pepe are performing better than expected, we couldn’t ask for more. The technical team have worked round the clock to ensure that the boat and crew are race ready."
