Woody Marine of Queensland said it has long been a specialist builder of high-performance boats, having produced a wide range of 'go fast' tour boats for people who want to be strapped in and launched into a death-defying ride.
HyDrive Engineering of South Australia said it has been a specialist manufacturer of hydraulic boat steering gear for more than 40 years. The company said their many years of experience in handling multiple-rig, large-horsepower outboards made the task of fitting the world's first quad 350hp Yamaha rig a safe and simple task for Woody Marine.
HyDrive's general manager, Grahame Anderson, said: "Our largest outboard installations to date have been eight-engine 250hp Yamaha rigs on 65ft inflatables, so for us, instead of handling 2000hp, we had to handle 1400hp.
"However, this Woody Marine tour boat installation had to be built to withstand the impacts and forces generated during its 'normal' use," he said.
David Green of Woody Marine said: "Although the quad 350hp Yamaha is the most powerful rig we have built to date, we already have an order for an identical boat for the tourist market in North Queensland."
