Winter engine protection

Keep fuel systems clean

With winter almost upon us, thousands of boat owners across the country are parking their boats -- and engines -- until spring arrives.

Mercury Marine has warned the owners of both outboards and inboards that their motors need to be protected from modern fuels that can allow the formation of impurities in dormant fuel systems.

Poorly maintained fuel systems can lead to poor engine reliability -- which can be life threatening in some conditions.

Mercury recommends that Quicksilver fuel system treatment and stabiliser be used to protect boat and engine fuel systems for extended periods of storage. Added just before each fill-up, Quicksilver's stabiliser helps maintain fuel integrity and protect the fuel system against varnish and gum deposits, rust, corrosion and oxidation.

Quicksliver's stabliser has been designed for use in all 2 and 4 stroke petrol and diesel engines.

Mercury says Quicksilver will protect engines, fuel tanks and fuel lines against chemical damage, deposits and clogs that could cost thousands of dollars to rectify next summer.
