Australian distributor Windy Boats has signed an agreement in November last year with Norway's leading boatbuilder to bring its boats to Australia, with the 52 Xanthos and 37 Grand Mistral due to arrive here later this year.
"Windy are one of the top builders of quality sports cruisers in the world; each craft is made by boatbuilders and not just a production number," Windy Boats Australia told Trade-a-Boat.
Windy Boats have 15 models in the range, from the 25ft Mirage runabout up to the 58ft Zephyros high-tech luxury cruiser with a 74ft flagship planned for release in 2010. The Windy 44 Chinook hardtop sportscruiser took out this year's European Powerboat of the Year award in the under 50ft category.
John Wolf from Windy Boats Australia said that while the Xanthos and Grand Mistral due for Australia will feature Volvo diesel power plants with twin IPS propulsion, these boats can be optioned up to run triple IPS.
At time of writing, Wolf said the Xanthus has a price tag of $2.1 million and the Grand Mistral $850,000.
"Windy are an A Grade build to commercial survey standards, which means they can be put straight into charter," Wolf says.
