In 2011, Windcraft raised $252,000 for Bear Cottage, the children’s hospice in Manly, by raffling a Hanse Yacht. And this week at the company’s Annual Owners' rally on Pittwater its second raffle was announced.
This raffle will be for the benefit of Sailors With disABILITES (SWD) and the prize will be a Hanse 345.
The yacht will come ready to sail with 12 months Club Marine Insurance, making the total prize value over $250,000. There are only 5000 tickets priced at $100 each and they can be bought online at www.winahanseyacht.com.au
Sailors With disABILITIES (SWD) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to changing the way people with a disability regard themselves and to changing society’s perception of the disabled.
SWD uses sailing to build confidence and self-esteem of participants while learning the thrill and freedom of sailing in a team environment.
SWD provides free sailing and training programs for children and adults with a disability or disadvantage and their carers. SWD relies on a team of hard working volunteers and generous support to deliver its programs.
"It's great to be able to support Sailors with disABILITIES and their life-changing programs. Team Windcraft has many connections to this wonderful organisation -- not least because we understand the great benefits the sheer joy of sailing brings us," said Team Windcraft’s Mary Brinkley.
"We chose to raffle the Hanse 345 because it is a perfect family or couples yacht and very easy to sail thanks to its self-tacking headsail. It's great to think that someone will be sailing a yacht worth a quarter of a million dollars having bought a ticket for just $100!"
It's all for a great cause, so if you would like to support the yacht raffle there are 5000 tickets priced at $100 each which can be bought online at www.winahanseyacht.com.au. Closing date for ticket sales is August 31.
