Wicked new Boston Whaler flagship
Quad-outboard setup for new game-changing 420 OutrageBoston Whaler unveiled its largest model to date at the 2014 Miami Boat Show, which ends today (February 17) in Florida.
The American sportsfishing-boat specialist says its mammoth 420 Outrage centre console offers more comfort, more cutting-edge features, more than you thought possible. Prepare for the biggest, boldest, most inspired Boston Whaler ever, the boat builder says.
The stage was set during the 2014 Miami International Boat Show, where Boston Whaler hosted its annual press event last Thursday. As remarks drew to a close, President Huw Bower stepped forward to announce a special unveiling. Pulling the curtain from a large display revealed an intricate, three-foot scale model (pictured) -- a perfect replica of the impending 420 Outrage.
"You're looking at what will be the largest Boston Whaler ever produced," said Jeff Vaughn, vice president of sales, marketing and customer service, as he addressed the crowd.
"It all began by asking, 'How can we push beyond the limits of what's possible in a centre-console boat?' We've found our answer in the 420 Outrage. There is literally nothing else like it on the marketplace."
Size, of course, will be a major component of the new 420 Outrage, but size that's said to be used thoughtfully. Because this is a boat designed to encourage onboard entertaining, every square inch will take into account a boater's comfort and convenience, says Whaler.
The gracious bow area will facilitate group gatherings 'in a whole new way.' The well-appointed cabin will provide a welcome break from the elements. The helm station will be a conversation starter, to say the least, and innovations in seating will be a hallmark.
And, true to its Outrage lineage, serious sportfishing will fall squarely within the boat's domain.
Of course, Whaler says performance will astound. Look to quad Mercury Verado 300s with Joystick Piloting for power and precision piloting.
Mercury's integrated SmartCraft VesselView display, power steering, and digital throttle and shift will combine on the 420 to deliver a sophisticated, seamless command experience, Whalers says, adding that it's a power configuration worthy of an envelope-pushing boat and will turn heads.
"The Boston Whaler legacy is defined by its most groundbreaking moments -- those important leaps forward in design, technology and manufacturing," said Bower. "The 420 Outrage marks an exciting new chapter in our legend with a bold declaration of performance and capability."
