Whittley to celebrate 60 years

Aussie manufacturer to honour milestone at Melbourne Boat Show

Long time Australian boat manufacturer, Whittley Marine Group, and the Whittley family, will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Whittley Company and building boats in Victoria, at this year's Melbourne Boat Show.

The boat manufacturer and Melbourne retailer Marine Max will mark the event by offering $500 off all new Whittley boat purchases, across the Cruiser (CR) range of models as well as complimentary membership into theWhittley Owners Club, at this year's show. The offer is available to past Whittley boat owners, who come to the show with a photo of their past or current Whittley, and a written memory of their lasting experience in their boat.

The best entry, will then be judged by Neville and Steve Whittley, at the closing night of the Boat Show with the winning entry receiving, along with the $500 off their new boat, an upgrade to their new boat, with a limited edition heritage wood package, and a limited edition plaque marking the 60th year of the company.

Sales and Marketing Manager of Whittley Marine Group, Alan Whittley said: "As one of Victoria's oldest boat manufacturers, it is great to see past customers come back and buy new boats off us.

"As we celebrate the legacy of Jim Whittley and the 60th year of the company, we look forward to hearing of customers' experiences aboard their Whittleys and encourage all to visit our stand at this year's Melbourne Boat Show.

"This is our family's way, of thanking the public for their on going support of the brand over our 60 year history. We are a boating family, we use the boats that we develop, and it brings us great joy and satisfaction in seeing like minded families, getting out and using their Whittleys.

The Whittley Boat Building Company, was founded in 1953, by Jim Whittley and his brother Ossie. The two started out producing a one-off hand-crafted high quality bond wood boat, for a friend. From there word grew, and the brothers where asked to continue their hobbie into building production boats, for a rapidly growing customer base.

Mr. Whittley went on to say: "We produce today, as my grand father did when he produced the first Whittley back in 1953, the highest quality, family boats, designed and produced by Australians for Australian families. That is why we have been crafting dreams since 1953."
