Whittley is saying farewell to one of its most popular models with a special version of the Whittley CR 2800 SD.
Named the Limited-Edition Heritage CR 2800 SD, the run of 10 boats will feature a unique addition – a timber plaque signed by the boat’s designer, Steven Whittley.
Wittley sales and marketing director Alan Whittley said the CR 2800 – part of the Melbourne-based boat maker’s range of trailerable family cruisers – has been one of the most popular models in the line-up since its introduction to the range in 2007.
The Whittley factory has saved its best CR 2800 SD build until now, with the release of this new Limited Edition Heritage version,” Alan said.
“Now is your chance to secure a limited build slot to arguably the greatest Australian-made sports cruiser
models."
As well as the plaque marking the special edition, each build will be individually numbered to show the order in which it came off the production line.
Owners buying the limited-edition model will be given a personal on-water handover by Whittley managing director Neville Whittley.
The open-plan, twin accommodations boats with enclosed shower and toilet feature Volvo Penta sterndrive power and sit on a dual-axle Makay trailer, and with the entire package weighing less than 3500kg it can be towed behind a large SUV or trade ute.
The limited-edition models all have custom styling including an all-black hull, black powder-coated railings, cool-touch vinyl upholstery and a new larger dash.
The boats also have a bow thruster fitted at no extra cost.
Owners will also receive the original build and design documents along with marketing material from the Whitley CR 2800’s launch – the first time Whittley has included this information with the sale of a boat.
The sterndrive version of the Whitley CR 2800 is popular with buyers as it has a large aft swim deck that is more user-friendly than outboard-engined versions of the boat.
When it was released as a replacement for the Whittley Cruisemaster 700, the Whittley CR 2800 was one of Australia's first computer-designed hulls and layouts.
According to Whittley, the CR 2800 “opened up and created the extended on-water weekender concept and initiated the Whittley brand's blue water sports cruiser image to a new generation of family buyers”.
“The release of the CR 2800 revolutionised the maxi trailer boat market and showed Australian families the potential it offered for weekend boating,” Whittley said.
“It offered extensive big boat features in a trailerable platform, previously limited to larger in-
water boat models.”
Whittley is currently offering factory cash-back offers on its entire model range. The Whittley CR2800 SD is priced from $329,181 when fitted with a 250hp Volvo Penta V6 DPS inboard engine.
