Melbourne-based boat-builder Whittley Marine will introduce outboard engine versions of its CR2080 and CR2180 cruisers at this month’s 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
The outboard versions of the traditionally stern drive models are recognising a buyer shift towards outboard engines in this class of cruiser.
The Whittley CR2080 Outboard will be fitted with a 115hp Yamaha F115 four-stroke outboard engine, while the larger Whittley CR2180 Outboard will come with a 130hp Yamaha F130 outboard engine.
Queensland’s Northside Marine will offer the Whittley CR2080 Outboard on display at the show for $66,805 drive-away on a Mackay trailer, while the Whittley CR2180 Outboard on display at the show will be priced from $83,990 including a Mackay dual-axle trailer.
In the past both boats have offered only Volvo Penta stern drives.
The 6.2-metre Whittley CR2080 features a 19-degree deadrise hull, a 2.2-metre beam, a fibreglass stringer system and foam fill in the gaps to help with flotation. The boat is rated to carry six passengers, and comes standard with toughened glass windows recessed into the hull.
“With over 60-plus years’ cruising experience from the Whittley family, this CR2080
really is the ideal family pocket cruiser,” Northside Marine sales manager Bill Hull said.
“It features standard cabin headlining and a unique removable rear seating arrangement for two, to maximise cockpit space for fishing while still offering comfortable seating whilst under way.”
The 6.6-metre CR2180 comes standard with hydraulic steering, full camper covers, a pressurised sink and rear shower, 1.8-metre long bunks and a chemical toilet. It also features a 19-degree deadrise and a 2.2-mere beam.
Hull said the CR2180 was an “ideal mid-sized family Australian-made sports cruiser”.
“The CR2180 Outboard offers all the benefits of Whittley’s larger models in a
compact and easy to use size.
“Coupled with a Yamaha outboard, cost of ownership is minimal and lasting memories are maximized as this package is full of family cruiser features, that are all standard so you’re ready to hit the water with no hidden costs,” he said.
“The CR2180 can easily convert from a comfortable overnighter, to an on-water sports fun machine, to a fishing machine; it is a package perfect for every family.”
The 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show runs from May 23-26. The show will feature an extended trailer boat section this year.
