EASTER RACING - KEEL BOATS & MULTIHULLS
The Hydro Tasmania Three Peaks Race, a non-stop sailing event, commences at Beauty Point just north of Launceston on Good Friday and finishes in Hobart on the Derwent River. En-route, the running members of each team have to scale Mt Strzelecki, Mt Freycinet and Mt Wellington.

- Australian Multihull Offshore Championships - Mackay Marina is both sponsor and destination for this year’s series starting from Brisbane.
Champagne flowed at the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria last Sunday as its victorious all girl crew of Kathy McLean, Marilyn O’Brien, Tanya Stanford, Sophie Tarney and rookie Kate Brown returned with the Club’s first ever major women’s sailing trophy.
Royal Yacht Club of Victoria's sponsor, Nautilus Marine Insurance, has added wind into the spinnakers of boats competing in this Summer’s racing. None more so than David Burton, who took out the top honours.
Katie Spithill and her team of Stacey Jackson and Angela Farrell representing Pittwater's Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club win the MATIS New Zealand Women's Match Racing Championships.
Kiboko, a high performance cruiser-racer, is the first SW 72 to be launched by the Southern Wind Shipyard in Cape Town. The yacht is the result of the synergy between Reichel Pugh Yacht Design for sail plan, waterlines and appendages, Fernando de Almeida for deck design and Antonio Minniti for deck and interior design.

AMERICA'S CUP
The French K-Challenge team has a title sponsor and been renamed AREVA Challenge. Areva is an international power company with over half of its 58000 employees based in France.
MULTIHULLS
Asian Record Circuit - Ellen MacArthur's B&Q team secure record number five as they cross the finish line off Shanghai, China's largest city. One of the objectives of the Asian Record Circuit is to establish a number of record times between Asian ports for sailing projects to challenge in the future. The eight week tour will finish mid May in Singapore.

Princess Sofia Trophy, Mallorca, Spain. Darren Bundock and Glen Ashby AUS arrive in Palma after driving 3500km. Bundock/Ashby were OCS in heat four but are placed sixth after five races.
Flying Dutchman Worlds, Florida, USA. Leaders, Szabolcs Majthenyi and Andras Domokos from Hungary dropped a first and second place after eight races. Ian McCrossin and Adrian Schmal AUS are place fifth and Norman Rydge and Richard Scarr AUS have only finished one of the last four races and are placed tenth.
Mission Beach Sailing Club members are still repairing the damage and cleaning up the mess two weeks after cyclone Larry, but some are still going to Airlie Beach for the Easter Regatta.
AROUND THE WORLD
Solo yachtswoman Dee Caffari is back in the Atlantic heading to the Equator in good conditions, but her water maker has broken down. Dee is attempting to become the first woman to sail single handed non stop westabout round the world.
Clipper 05-06 Round the World Yacht Race - On Sunday the fleet started to race across the top of the Pacific from Qingdao, China, to Victoria, Canada.
The Volvo Ocean Race - movistar (Bouwe Bekking) fought off ABN AMRO ONE (Mike Sanderson) to take the leader’s points by just one minute 25 seconds at the scoring gate at Fernando de Noronha. ABN AMRO ONE then swept past movistar and regained the lead. As the fleet reaches the half way point of this leg movistar is second followed by Brasil 1, Pirates of the Caribbean, Ericsson and ABN AMRO TWO, 167 nautical miles behind their sister boat.
The Dutch crew member to join the Brunel team in the Volvo Ocean Race was decided after sailing on board Skandia in the Sydney Gold Coast Race.
Australians Bernie and Yvonne Katchor continue their cruising adventures in Panama, filling up water tanks, walking on trails and returning to the ocean, but not to their dinghy in the river. You can join the Katchors currently cruising in the San Blas Islands in Panama.

A free information session to kick-start a career in the megayacht industry will be conducted at the Sanctuary Cove International Boatshow on Sunday May 21 in the Village Theatre. The information session will provide details on salaries, lifestyle, qualifications and employment opportunities, ranging from skipper to engineer, and barman to hostess.

The Langkawi International Boat Exhibition (LIBEX) will be held November 24-27 on the Malaysian island of Langkawi to coincide with the Grand Finale of the 2006 Darwin-Bali-Langkawi Yacht Rally and the 2006 Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta
