18 FOOTERS
Two great 18ft Skiff crews provided spectators with a wonderful race as they battled the 20-knot southerly winds in Race 12 of the Australian 18 Footers League Club Championship on Sydney Harbour. After racing alongside each other for most of the long south course, the Smeg team of Nick Press, Daniel Phillips and Dave Ewings took the honours by just 13 seconds from the Gotta Love It 7 team of Seve Jarvin, Sam Newton and Scott Babbage. www.18footers.com.au

AMERICA’S CUP
The Peyron brothers, famous for their exploits in offshore sailing and giant multihulls, have turned their attention to the America's Cup. In Paris Bruno Peyron outlined details of the Energy Team, the sixth challenger for the 34th America's Cup while brother Loick joined in live from the Southern Ocean where he is currently leading the Barcelona World Race.

Representatives from a prospective Challenger from China had a short test sail on board the AC 45 in Auckland. www.americascup.com
