Twenty-six years ago, Hobart yachtsman Don Calvert won his first Bruny Island Race with his newly-launched Intrigue, in the lead-up to becoming the only Tasmanian skipper, crew and boat to ever represent Australia in the Admiral’s Cup offshore racing series in England. Two great 18ft Skiff crews provided spectators with a wonderful race as they battled the 20-knot southerly winds in Race 12 of the Australian 18 Footers League Club Championship on Sydney Harbour.
