Vision Yachts is launching a 19m luxury power catamaran on the world market at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on May 18 - 21. Designed by Scott Jutson, the model is the first for the luxury pleasure market by the Mackay based manufacturer. The company has 30 years experience in commercial vessel manufacturer, specializing in fishing trawlers.

UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship - Ten boats, five revised driver line-ups, new rulings and some pent up emotions provides the mix for what promises to be a dramatic start to the 2006 season in Doha.

Cairns Fishing Report - Have you ever tried to fish in tomato soup? Well this is what it has been like recently after all the rain. Les Marsh takes repeat clients to fish for three days in the rivers and estuary and learns something new about fishing for barramundi.

Weipa Fishing Report - The 2006 season started very well with both the estuaries and offshore firing up to produce some great fishing. A highlight was the landing of three big black jewfish all over one metre in length, the best measuring an impressive 127cm (20 kilos plus).

The world's biggest cruise ship, the Freedom of the Seas, has drawn a crowd of thousands in Hamburg ahead of its maiden transatlantic voyage departing April 25. The crew had to carry out a tricky manoeuvre, as the ship's berth was only three metres wider and 12 metres longer than the ship. The 160,000-ton ship is 339 metres long, 56 metres wide, and boasts the world's first on-board surfing pool, a skating rink and a rock-climbing wall.

Oceanic Whitsunday Boat & Leisure Shows 'Art Show' - The prize purse has increased to $10,000, with the new category of 'Art Form Any Medium'. Entries are restricted to artists living within a 600km radius of Airlie Beach Post Office.

The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from May 18 - 21 will have a record exhibitor line up. The Show currently has 416 exhibitors, surpassing the 2004 record of 403.

The Marina Association of Australia ran a successful Intermediate Marina Managers Course in late March in Sydney, with a total of 22 students from New Zealand and all mainland states in Australia.

April 28 - 30 -- Fremantle Boating Festival, sponsored by Nautilus Marine Insurance Agency, represents all aspects of boating and on water activities including luxury cruisers, scuba diving, snorkelling, jet skis, water skiing, wake boarding, windsurfing and kayaking. It will present entertainment, tourism and boating destinations, career information and classes covering everything from fishing tips to marine navigation.

May 6 - 7 -- Bulbeck Triple 0 & Community Sailing Day - Westpac Rescue Helicopter Lake Macquarie support group offer an opportunity for people to try boating. Any member of the community or  triple 0 response person is invited to come to RMYC Toronto and for a minimum $10 donation receive a champagne and orange juice, cooked breakfast from 9am and at 11am join as crew on the sailing yachts and motor cruisers for some fun.
