POWERBOATS & FISHING
Next stop Hobart for Round Three of the Wrest Point Formula 1 Superboat Grand Prix and it promises to be a Derwent River Rumble as teams vie for the all important championship points over the weekend of 8 - 9 April. The pace was a cracker at Toukley and the wider expanses of the Derwent River could see five to six boats abreast as they attack the course which is situated a stones through from the Hobart CBD.

Three fishermen off the New South Wales south coast have proven that the size of your rig doesn't necessarily equate to the size of your fish, having landed a 136kg Black Marlin in their Yamaha F60C four-stroke powered TABS aluminium boat.

Southbeach, a new Australian made 6.6m multi-purpose fibreglass family day boat will be launched at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on May 18 - 21. Southbeach combines the practicality and versatility of a pontoon boat with the seaworthiness and high speed performance of a small fisherman. It caters for all aspects of family boating including wakeboarding, waterskiing or as a general runabout.

MerCruiser Black Scorpion MX 6.2 Litre, 340 hp and 5.7L, 330hp towsport inboards are now available for a limited time with an optional polished and painted plenum and pully.

CruiseCraft has joined forces with Mayfair Marine Trailers to provide authorised CruiseCraft dealers with uniquely specified CruiseCraft Boat Trailers.

Streaker Boats' new 458 Tournament Console allows full bow to stern access, the helm controls adorn a starboard side console which leaves an impressive amount of fishing room.

A surge in new boat sales at Wynnum Marine, Brisbane has resulted in an oversupply of traded fibreglass and aluminium boats. To clear the yard Wynnum Marine is having a stock clearance sale with discounts on all used models.

The appeals of Qatar 96 and Spirit of Norway against the disqualification of Qatar 96 from rounds six and seven of the 2005 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship in Dubai have been upheld by the UIM Appeal Board.

PRODUCTS
Navman is launching two products in Australia at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on May 18 - 21. The Navman 8120 is a multifunction navigational system which eliminates the complexities associated with the operation of multiple devices. Northstar's 8000i, a modular, expandable and flexible networked system, is an integrated navigation and entertainment unit capable of supporting up to 20 screens simultaneously.

NEWS BRIEFS
The Bureau of Meteorology is issuing seven-day forecasts for all capital cities apart from Darwin. The new forecasts are the culmination of several years work by Bureau researchers using enhanced weather computer models and improved satellite input.

A new inflatable Zodiac, donated to Sailability Pittwater by Sydney Powerboat Centre, has been officially launched. It is powered by a 4 HP Mercury motor donated by Enterprise Marine. The safety and support craft is named the "John L Gordon" in honour of  a volunteer, coach and safety boat man, who has been involved with Sailability since it's inception 10 years ago.

MARINE INDUSTRY
Questions are being asked about the Australian Builders Plate requirements for boats above six metres in length. These craft are required to display a verified builders plate giving the maximum persons and maximum loads.

April 12 - Photographer Sam Hood's 'working harbour' revealed in talk at the Australian National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour, Sydney from 10.30am to 12pm ($5 per person).

April 14 - Good Friday - public holiday

April 15 - 16 -- Heritage Afloat Festival, Toronto, Lake Macquarie. An Easter gathering of Classic and Wooden boats, with associated family activities.

April 17 - Easter Monday - public holiday
