New boats and electronic-controlled marine diesel engines, new Queensland PFD rules, Austrade seminars, forthcoming boat and fishing shows and more

Summary for w/b - 21 Mar, 2006 12pm

POWERBOATS & FISHING
Australian manufacturer Sunrunner is launching worldwide the Sunrunner 3100 at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show on Queensland's Gold Coast on May 18 - 21. This new sports cruiser offers a seagoing hull, wide cockpit and open-style design with a full walkaround deck and moulded boarding platform. The 31ft vessel can sleep two to four. Both petrol and diesel configurations are available.

Amid tough competition from imported bow-rider manufacturers, the Brisbane built CruiseCraft range of Resort bow-rider boats continues to defy the trend to US imports by continuing as a consistent selling range. CruiseCraft Boats are now available direct from the manufacturer with factory-fitted Lowrance or Navman marine electronic equipment.

Yanmar Marine has launched a sophisticated new range of electronic-controlled marine diesel engines. Developed in close association with car manufacturers BMW, the new Yanmar BY Series engines come in both four and six cylinder configurations and deliver car-like performance from common-rail diesel technology.

The 60 Sundancer is more than 61 feet in length and is the largest Sundancer ever. To create this new top-of-the-line model, Sea Ray's design team went back to the drawing board and started from scratch.

The Australian Honda Marine Lifestyle magazine is a new high-quality, 100-page, full-colour publication focusing on Honda's technologically-advanced four-stroke marine outboards, its strong environmental commitment and successful racing campaigns. The magazine incorporates a complete guide to Honda's outboard engine range and is available from Honda Marine dealers.

TRAINING
OTEN's Celestial Navigation course is delivered by correspondence. The course teaches the art of plotting your position by observation of the moon, sun and stars. It's designed to be studied in small chunks over 12 months, but can be finished sooner. Cost of the course is $180.
