The Western Australian boat builder, Fury Custom Boats, has selected Mercury’s all-new Verado 350 SCi outboard to power its 282 Centre Console model, a 28-footer which can seat up to 12 people and is part centre console and part bow rider. More details.
Mercury Remanufacturing and MerCruiser have teamed up to develop a low-cost way to upgrade to something better with plenty of power. Reconditioned engines are available at a price in between the cost of a long block rebuild and a new engine with the option of a turn key package. More information.
Moolap Marine is celebrating 30 years of their business being a Stacer dealer in the Geelong area. Established as a marine service centre, Moolap Marine commenced operations in 1977 by owners Dennis and Pat McKeegan. More details.
NSW Habitat Action Grants enable fishing clubs and individuals, community groups, local Councils, and other community members to submit proposals for projects to enhance fish habitat in rivers, creeks, estuaries, wetlands and natural billabongs. More details.
A national strategy for the management of ornamental fish in Australia has been developed to provide consistency across the States. It addresses commercial and hobbyist operations, and lists noxious ornamental species which present a significant risk to freshwater habitats and fisheries resources. More information.
Spirit of Qatar Team Principal, HE Sheikh Hassan Bin Jabor Al-Thani is not ruling out a return to racing in the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, but insists that the rules must be implemented and enforced. The next event in the series is the Romanian Grand Prix on Lake Siutghiol, Mamaia-Constanta, 28-30 August. More information.

Nominations are now open for the 2009 Australian Yachting Awards, recognising outstanding achievement in the sport over the period of March 2008 through to July 2009. More details.
The Rotary Club of Sydney Cove has donated $10,000 to the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Safety of Life at Sea Trusts (SOLAS) from the monies raised as part of the annual Rotary Charity Regatta that the CYCA hosts in November each year. More details.

The National Marine Safety Committee (NMSC) reminds the marine industry that the next raft of national standards for commercial vessels enters legislation nationally on 1 October 2009 through an amendment to the USL Code (Amendment 7). Details.
