Weather warning for NSW

Dangerous conditions continue Monday April 20 to Wednesday April 22

The Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW has issued a warning that rough conditions on the NSW coast are going to continue this week, and Wednesday is looking like being the worst day.

Large and powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

The low in the Tasman sea is expected to deepen Tuesday and move closer to the coast with strong to gale-force winds along much of the coast and increasing swell. Seas of up to five metres plus swell of more than five metres is expected on most of the coast and after Wednesday the low is likely to move slowly away to the east.

There is also a gale-force wind warning in place for Sydney closed waters, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast, Illawarra Coast, Batemans Coast and Eden Coast.

Check local conditions before planning a fishing trip by going to BOM district forecasts at http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/map.shtml
Also check out the links and safety advice on BOM's dedicated rock-fishing weather page.

Whenever you fish:
>> Choose a safe spot
>> Don't fish alone
>> Wear non-slip shoes
>> Wear a life jacket
>> Never turn your back on the sea.
