Every boater wants to have the most fun they can afloat and that has been the goal at Marine Riley over the past 18 months. The crew has been busy planning, building, customising and sourcing fun water toys and boating accessories for the Australian and New Zealand market and the long, hot summer ahead.
The culmination of this quest is the Marine Riley “toy shop” in Mona Vale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The new retail showroom is having a grand opening this Saturday (November 10) with stacks of water toys ranging from marine swimming pools and giant boat slides to water bikes that ride on sea and jet-powered craft designed for serious fun down under.
GRAND INFLATABLES
One of Marine Riley’s biggest sellers are the Grand inflatable boats. A biggest player in Europe, Grand has been building inflatables for the military and commercial clients for more than 30 years. The company is now tripling production to meet demand.
Grand inflatables and RIBs feature a high-quality finish, great performance and customisable layout. The larger RIBs can be used for coastal trips, watching whales, water skiing and tubing or just cruising the harbour and rivers.
The cool flaghip 850 Grand that we recently tested with a DF350A Suzuki outboard had a fridge and electrics toilet to create the ultimate comfortable dayboat afloat.
BOATING TOYS
On the boating toy front, the Marine Riley team engaged an experienced American outlet to create an “Aussie Pool” and “Aussie Slide” that could handle the rigours of boating in Australia while avoiding the critters that bite.
Be it Sydney Harbour or the Great Barrier Reef, you don’t have to worry about getting stung by blue bottles, jellyfish, sea lice or worse. You also don’t need to worry about tenders and other boats coming too close when you are in the inflatable ocean pool.
The Aussie Pool floats behind your boat and measures 4m wide by 3m long and has a 2.2m depth. The pool is stinger-proof with fully inflatable tubes around the edge so you kick back and enjoy the sun and cool water. Kids can swim in the pool and you'll know exactly where they are at all times.
The Aussie Slide has been adopted from the superyacht slide, which Marine Riley distributes through the Pacific. This new slide, which suits most boats from 40ft and above, is light weight, built to commercial standards, and can take adults and children alike.
KAYAKS AND SUPS
Many boaters love having a kayak on board to paddle around the anchorages and up the creeks, but not many enjoy dragging them aboard and stowing the craft. So Marine Riley searched for a great paddling kayak that was light, easy to store and didn’t damage the boat.
The solution was the Oru Kayak, which folds up into a backpack, is very lightweight, and sets up in minutes. It will store in a locker on a boat and in a cupboard at home while still being tough and durable.
All these great products and more are now on show at Marine Riley, 95 Darley Street, Mona Vale, opening Saturday November 11 from 1pm-5pm. There will be plenty of Christmas specials for the boating family. You can also shop online.
