Parent company Telwater says the move to online retailing is a first for an outboard brand in Australia and comes hot on the heels of its successful Vortex launch last July.
With the mission of "making boating more affordable," Vortex cost an average of 25 per cent less than a comparable outboard, Telwater says. The outboards start from just $750 and range from 2.5hp to 40hp in two stroke and 15hp to 25hp in four-stroke variants.
Telwater believes online retailing will make pleasure boating even more accessible and affordable to the public. Previously, Vortex outboards were available only as part of boat, motor, trailer packages through the Telwater dealer network.
"Customers have accepted the brand and are capitalising on the savings. Due to this success we see an opportunity to take business online and sell direct to the public," explained Vortex Project Manager, Michael Walker.
"Our overall mission is to provide the customer with an affordable and easily accessible engine alternative, and retailing online is the next step to achieving that goal," Walker adds.
Vortex outboards are built in China by Genova Power, which builds engines for various industries, and are covered by a three-year manufacturer’s warranty. Delivery takes two to 14 days and, at the time of writing, most models were in stock.
Mr Walker said that the motors would be delivered free of charge to any capital city or to any authorised dealer.
To buy a Vortex outboards head to www.vortexmarine.com.au and click the "Buy Now" button next to the desired model. Then proceed to the checkout. Online payments are protected using a secure SSL encrypted payment system.
