Victorian Trailable Yachts Championships
Big numbers expected at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron for trailerable regattaThe Notice of Race and Online Entry are now available via the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron website for the 2016 Four Winds Marine Victorian Trailable Yacht and Sports Boat Championships Regatta held on February 27-28.
Usually attracting up to 30 boats, event organisers are expecting greater numbers this year given they have three other events taking place as part of this regatta. The Castle Class Association Victorian Championships, the RL24 Association Victorian Championships and the Victorian Trailable Yacht Travellers Series will all encompass the State Championships.
Further to the multiple titles up for grabs, organisers expect the central location and timing of the event to draw more competitor interest. This year, the Melbourne Trailable Yacht Club and the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron are collaborating to co-host this event.
Ron Parker, Secretary of the Yachting Victoria Trailable Yacht Division, expects this year’s event to attract more attention. “The 2016 Four Winds Marine Victorian Trailable Yacht and Sports Boat Championships is a great event and it’s the first time the Melbourne Trailable Yacht Club and the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron have collaborated to co-host this event. This partnership brings the Trailable Yacht racing and the Sports Boat racing to the top of Port Phillip in Melbourne and promises to offer great value to participants and a quality sailing experience," he said.
The regatta fee for this event is $60 per boat and includes overnight berthing in the new RMYS Marina at St Kilda.
“Yachting Victoria’s Trailable Yacht Division is pleased with the cooperation between the two clubs to bring this event to a central location, particularly given the spread of participants from across the State. RMYS is generously offering free overnight berthing in their new marina and great post-race hospitality on the Saturday night," Parker added.
