Victorian boaters who want to do their bit to help special needs and disadvantaged children are invited to take part in the third annual Variety Splash next February.
Modelled on the very successful Variety Bash for elderly cars and young-at-heart crews, the Variety Splash is a three-day event that takes participants in a loop around Port Phillip Bay from Docklands to Sandringham, Geelong and back to Docklands.
Like the famous car rally, the Variety Splash isn't just a gentle jaunt. It combines festivities, fun and a bit of adventure.
Such is the popularity the event has generated in its first two years, it has outgrown the Mornington Yacht Club where participants spent their first night in the first two Splashes.
With a record number of boaters expected to line-up at the start, the organisers have moved to the new, state-of-the art Sandringham Yacht Club.
Variety events manager Janette Connolly told BoatPoint the rally would again stay at Geelong Yacht Club on the second night and then head back to the Melbourne Yacht Club Hotel at Waterfront City for the big final night party.
The 2010 Variety Splash will be held on February 25th, running through to February 27th.
