Hardcore premium saltwater fishing boat brand Pursuit will make a new push Down Under after Australian sales of its sister brand, Cobalt, have grown to be the largest outside of North America.
Cobalt Boats Australia, which also sells the Bennington pontoon boats brand here, will also take on the Pursuit brand “this coming summer”.
Due in November are the first of the Pursuit models; the entry-level, family-focused 235 DC dual-console that in the US is fitted with a 250hp Yamaha outboard engine; the entry-level S288 sport offshore family/fishing dual-seat centre console fitted in the US with twin 300hp Yamaha outboard engines; and the OS325 entry-level offshore model with a walk-around cabin and in US specification fitted with twin Yamaha 300hp outboard engines.

No Australian specifications were released.
The Pursuit brand of fibreglass boats has already been sold in Australia via Marine Riley, in a distributorship deal struck in early 2018. Pursuit Boats makes luxury vessels ranging from 23 feet to 40 feet in length, with 15 different centre console, offshore, sport and dual-console models available.
Pursuit last year was bought by Tennessee-based leisure and watersports-focused Malibu Boats, which also owns the Cobalt brand.
Cobalt Boats Australia also sells Bennington pontoon boats here, made by Malibu rival Polaris.

“We know how the team in Australia have grown Cobalt to be the largest export market outside of the USA, and we look forward to having the same success with Pursuit,” Pursuit Boats international sales vice-president George Hetzel said.
Cobalt Boats Australia general manager Andy Clayton said the Pursuit brand offered premium offshore fishing boats that had crossed over into versatile family boats, but had also maintained its range of pure sportsfishing models.
“Dad gets to fish, you can tow the kids for watersports, and there’s plenty of seating for mum and guests to sit back and relax, making the Pursuit a suitable boat for the whole family,” he said.
Pursuit Boats will have showrooms based on the Gold Coast, and in Sydney and Melbourne.
