
The Board of Ski Racing Australia, the governing body of ski
racing, has confirmed the passing of one of the sport’s most accomplished young
competitors as a result of a fall in the Bridge to Bridge Classic on the
Hawkesbury River (Sunday November 24).
Sarah Teelow, 20, of Wellington, NSW, became the Women’s World
Formula Two champion earlier this year.
The ski racing fraternity is deeply saddened by Sarah’s
passing and extends its condolences to her family. Ski Racing Australia is co-operating with police and
maritime authorities in their investigations.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after Sarah passed away overnight.
Police says emergency services were call about 9.25am (Sunday 25 November 2013) after the accident occurred between the railway bridge and the Hawkesbury River Bridge, during a water ski event. ??
The experienced 20-year-old female skier sustained serious spinal and head injuries during the incident behind Out Numbered. ??No other persons were injured. ?
Teelow was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition. About 8pm yesterday (Monday. November 25, 2013), Miss Teelow passed away.?? Our sincere condolences to all friends and family. RIP.
Officers attached to Kuring Gai Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the circumstances behind the incident and are renewing their appeal for any witnesses to contact them.
