Unravelling desalination

Two desalination systems companies from California will be on hand at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May to field questions on producing fresh water from the ocean

Spectra Watermakers supplies desalination systems for cruising and also racing sail boats.

The company will show how Spectra's development of the patented 'Clark Pump' energy recovery technology has enabled the company to offer reliable systems that can produce 25 to 160lt of fresh water per hour using 12 or 24V DC power. Using as little as 3W/lt, Spectra says its products are ideal for vessels that do not have an on-board generator set.

FCI Watermakers specialise in desalination systems for larger vessels that have an onboard generator set and have no problem supplying the required AC power.

The two companies will showcase their latest desalination systems at the Outback Marine display booth at the show.

Outback Marine Australia imports and distributes FCI Watermakers and Spectra Watermakers products throughout Australia.
