Two Qld shows to merge

New 'outdoor-adventure super show' to capture future recreational vehicle and vessel market

The  Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show has partnered with Explore Australia Expo and is moving to Manly Harbour in 2015, with the event to be conducted over three days on March 6-8.

Organisers say the partnership brings together two truly functional and enthusiastic events for what they say will become Australia’s premiere 4X4 and marine super expo.

Expo Ambassador Simon Christie said consumer exhibitions could no longer rest on their laurels.

"It is no longer good enough for these types of shows to rest on their laurels," Christie explained. "Numbers are dwindling, the format is stale and savvy consumers want more.

"We need to inspire the current market with a fresh approach and engage new people to grow our market. Surviving into the future is not enough, our industries need to thrive and grow for true sustainability.

Christie said the early dates in March have been selected to combine the best weather, tidal and pre-Easter conditions to maximise interest and attendance,

Facilitating the promotion and exposure of both automotive and water-based pursuits, the Manly Boat Harbour is an outstanding facility combining unequalled boating facilities and water access with a pristine flat open and accessible floor space ideal for the requirements of such a festive outdoor adventure show.

"Nationally, outdoor events have a proven track record and the layout, amenities, access to parking and public transport, local support, atmosphere and environment of the Manly Boat Harbour combine to deliver what we believe will be the uplifting change that Brisbane has been screaming for within this genre," said Christie.

Marine Queensland CEO Don Jones said the partnership with Explore Australia Expo brings some serious punch and diversity to the overall expo, consumers and the industry.

"Explore Australia Expo has proven to be a pillar of respected performance within the 4x4, touring and wider industries," Jones said.

"The crossover for the Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle show, the attraction of a more diverse yet related array of consumers and the partnership with highly experienced event organisers that share the same ideals and ethos as Marine Queensland, will create a serious outdoor adventure super show that will attract both a high quality exhibitor and consumer," he said.

Organisers said that the venture is an exciting development for the relevant industries and the venue will prove to be the major draw-card that really sets this expo apart from anything Brisbane has previously seen in this field.

The venture has already secured the support of key community groups within both the marine (Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club) and 4WD (4WD Queensland) sectors as well as the assistance and cooperation of the Brisbane City Council, Transport & Main Roads and the Manly Village Chamber of Commerce.
