Two new launches from Riviera

Riviera will have no shortage of crowds visiting its display at this year's Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show as it will be launching two new models, the 53 Flybridge and the 61 Series II Flybridge.

The 53 Enclosed Flybridge has introduced a new level of luxury and personal customisation to its size range and it has been so well received around the world that Riviera has already taken orders for 12 boats "off the plan" from fans in the US and locally.

Designed from the keel up by Riviera's in-house design term using the latest in three-dimensional CAD software, the 53 Enclosed Flybridge is the result of two years of consultation with Riviera owners around the globe. The new design gives a vessel with considerable internal volume which has allowed Riviera's designers to create great living spaces, elegant amenities and unrivalled performance.

Riviera’s concept design manager Neil McCabe says the 53 Flybridge retains a distinctive Riviera styling but incorporates a new generation of comfort and technology. This combines contemporary thinking with traditional boat-building elements.

"There is a lot of boat for its length," McCabe says of the three cabin, two bathroom design.

The 53 Flybridge is the first boat in the company's 50 foot range to offer a full-beam master stateroom with a king-sized bed and large ensuite. Port holes on both port and starboard give plenty of light and fresh air to the cabin.

The vessel is also the first Riviera of this size to offer an enclosed flybridge with spacious seating for up to ten people. Access to the flybridge is via an internal staircase, ending the balancing act needed to get refreshments up the traditional ladder from the rear deck.

The 53 also offers buyers a range of different pod drives and engine choices.

The 61 Series II brings a raft of new engineering and design enhancements to a vessel designed for luxury long range cruising and serious offshore passages. It is available as either an enclosed or open flybridge and has taken many of its design cues from Riviera's flagship 70 model.

The vessel comes in either three or four cabin versions and, like the 53, has been so well received that four forward orders have already been taken by Riviera. The master suite features a queen-sized bed aligned fore and aft and a generous amount to storage for luggage and clothing. The cabin’s opening portholes are wired to the boat’s ignition alarm system to ensure safety. Whether choosing to have two or three guest cabins, all 61 Series II boats will have three bathrooms, with one functioning as a starboard day head.

The galley is positioned aft of the saloon and is connected to the rear deck by a hinged awning and a large tinted glass door that brings the outside in when clipped open.

The spacious enclosed flybridge has both a forward helm and an aft docking station to make backing into a marina berth effortless. The open flybridge model has an aft helm and a U-shaped lounge and settee forward.

Riviera’s director of brand and communication, Stephen Milne, says Sanctuary Cove is always a positive for Riviera. Last year the 43 Open Flybridge was launched there and 25 boats have since been sold.

It will be Riviera’s 23rd appearance at the SCIBS and it will be one of more than 400 exhibitors this year. The show runs from May 20 to May 23 and is expected to draw more than 40,000 visitors.
