Trim with attitude
If you're fed up with constantly fiddling with your trim tabs to get the smoothest ride, the Attitude Correction System (ACS) could be for youACS removes the need for manual trim tab adjustment by constantly monitoring and correcting the vessel’s attitude back to perfect adjustment when it is rolling and pitching.
The ACS can be fitted to all planing boats and is suitable for use with both hydraulic and electromechanical trim tabs. It uses three MEM (micro electro mechanical) sensors. Two of them, for roll and pitch, are inclinometers; the third is a yaw-sensing gyro which disengages the roll channel during turns.
A test unit was fitted to a 28ft Mustang Sports Cruiser by Tony Chodyko of Smartcraft, the Australian distributor of the ACS, in Newcastle NSW. Chodyko reported better performance, a noticeable fuel saving and comfort of passengers.
ACS can be manually overridden or switched off at any time. Smartcraft is happy to offer test rides.
