From inflatable kayaks to high-tech sonar, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show served up a feast for anyone who loves boating accessories and products.
Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) is one of the best places to check out the latest in marine technology and innovation. We scoured the show to bring you the lowdown on some of the latest and greatest products, tech and accessories that caught our eye...
We stopped by the Jobe Sports stand to check out its brand-new kayak. The Tasman inflatable kayak stood out with its bright colouring, and we liked the fact that it can be used for tandem use – it can accommodate up to two people with a combined weight of 210kg.
The kayak is 4.4m long and is quite spacious, while its solid construction helps make for a stable platform. In fact, stability is said to be one of its highlights, making it ideal for a broad spectrum of paddlers from beginners through to experienced hands.
Featuring a drop-stitched floor and a 3mm EVA deck, the seats are adjustable using a Velcro system. Priced at $1499, the Jobe Tasman comes complete with two fibreglass paddles, a lock-in fin, 20psi hand pump, a repair kit, and a neat carry bag for transport. And, for added peace of mind, it’s backed by a three-year warranty.
Stopping by the navigation tent, we had a look at the all-new Furuno CSH-10 360-degree Omni Scanning Sonar. This unit promises to be an absolute game changer for sportfishing.
The CSH-10 emits high-frequency sonar waves in a full 360-degree radius around your boat. It allows real-time detection of fish schools and can lock onto a targeted fish, so you won’t lose sight of it.
Plenty of software improvement has gone into this model. One of the standout features is its built-in motion sensor, which works in with Furuno’s beam stabilisation technology. This combination ensures that the sonar beam remains steady even in rough conditions offshore, by automatically adjusting the angle to counteract your boat’s movement.
The CSH-10 also features the world’s first sonar chart overlay, allowing you to track big game fish, and it can scan up to 900m on each side looking for bait and pelagic species. The Furuno CSH-10 360-degree Omni Scanning Sonar is on sale now.
For years, recreational boaters have battled with uncomfortable and at times dangerous boat motion. Traditional trim tabs can help, but they are slow, often manual, and somewhat outdated. But now Seakeeper has introduced a fully automatic solution with its Seakeeper Ride.
Billed as ‘the only vessel attitude control system’, Seakeeper Ride is an advanced stabilisation system designed to reduce pitch and roll and provide a much smoother ride on the water.
Seakeeper Ride controllers are mounted to the back of your boat, below the water line. Using custom hardware and software, the system monitors boat behaviour and uses a set of rotary interceptor blades to help stabilise the boat and prevent it from rolling.
The blades create lift at the transom to manage the vessel’s motion. They are available in various sizes to suit the size of your boat, starting with the 450 model that is suitable for boats up to 8m in length.
The difference in handling is said to be stark, making this system a must for anyone heading offshore.
Raymarine has introduced a handheld thermal camera made by FLIR, which will take your night-time navigation and boating to the next level.
We were truly amazed when we looked into the scope of this new camera – it easily recognised the thermal signature of other people, even in daylight hours.
The camera uses advanced thermal imaging technology to provide boaters with a clear view in complete darkness and even through smoke and fog, making it an invaluable tool for both recreational and professional boaters.
Its main purpose is to identify heat signatures from other passing boats, obstacles and individuals in the water. It does all of this at a distance of up to 500m, which is crucial for avoiding collisions.
It’s not just for man-overboard situations, either. If you’re heading towards a buoy you can’t see, you can simply use the camera to see what’s ahead, as opposed to turning your spotlight on and ruining your night vision.
You will get around six hours of battery life from a single charge and it's waterproof and built tough to withstand marine conditions. The FLIR Ocean Scout Pro has an RRP of $3995.
Jet Tech has been working on its PWC Intake Recovery Tool for over 18 months, and the result proves it’s been worth the wait.
If you are a jet ski owner and have found yourself in a sticky situation on the water before, this one is for you.
Designed from tough, ceramic-reinforced nylon, this tool is designed to handle messy intake jams with ease. It even comes with a razor-sharp steel blade to cut away rope and fishing line from underneath your ski. It features a probe tip on one end for pushing debris through and a set of fang-like prongs on the other end for removing weeds.
It’s compact and weighs next to nothing, making it easy to store on board your ski. It’s one of those things where you are not going to need it every time, but the time you do, you’ll be glad to have it. An impressive little design that should prove extremely popular.
Jet Tech’s Intake Recovery Tool goes on sale shortly and is priced at $129.
The marine industry’s products and technology continue to evolve and set new benchmarks for performance and utility. We were blown away by the new tech and gear on show at Sanctuary Cove in 2025, and we can’t wait to see what the next show has in store.
