Top 5 things we like about the new Riviera 645 SUV

The Riviera 645 SUV will become a new range-topper for the adventure-ready single-level sedan line-up

Riviera is on a roll. Its order books are already full, yet it is still adding new models to its growing line-up of luxury motor yachts.

The latest is the Riviera 645 SUV. Revealed at the start of the 2021 international boat show calendar, it’s an impressive-looking addition to Riviera’s already popular SUV range of cruising sedans.

The Riviera 645 SUV offers a host more features than its smaller namesakes, including a much larger foredeck, more spacious accommodation, and a cockpit that aims to impress.

Here are the top five reasons we think you should take a look at Riviera’s newest SUV model.

1. More room to move

The new Riviera 645 SUV takes the place as the largest of the now six-model SUV range, stretching 21.23 metres overall, the same as the flybridge-equipped Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht.

Just like the flybridge-equipped version, the Riviera 645 SUV offers the choice of three or four staterooms, depending on the owner’s requirements.

The three-stateroom version, which offers a full-beam amidships master suite, a forward VIP stateroom and twin bunks, features a lounge space at the foot of the companionway from the saloon.

Owners opting for the four-suite version can replace this space with Pullman-style bunks.

Indoor space under the sedan hardtop is large and airy, and the Riviera 645 SUV features the largest outdoor living space of the SUV line-up, including a spacious bow, user-friendly alfresco area, and the biggest cockpit.

The clever thinking goes all the way down to a pantograph door built into the saloon that allows quick and easy access to the side decks from the helm.

Even the hydraulically lowering swim deck has an optional drop-in fence to make it a safe, more user-friendly space.

2. More choice in packaging

Riviera has offered the Riviera 645 SUV with the choice of two separate themes – either traditional Classic or avantgarde Newport.

Both feature the same high-end fit-out and handcrafted finish you’d expect in a Riviera. The difference, though, is that the interior of the Newport design is slightly more angular and formal than the Classic one.

The different themes are carried to the exterior, with the Classic theme featuring a  vast U-shaped bow lounge, and the Newport featuring an aft lounge and forward sunbed that’s large enough for three people.

There are also a number of options for the interior layout, including swapping out the fourth stateroom for a lounge area. One package provides space of a live-aboard crew,

3. It will go anywhere you want

Riviera prides itself on its ability to build adventure-ready long-range sports yachts, and the Riviera 645 SUV is no exception.

The base powerplants for the Riviera 645 SUV are two strong yet economical 1300hp MAN V8s that in the taller, heavier Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht will comfortably range for up to 400nm at more than 23 knots, with a top speed of more than 30 knots.

However, Riviera is also offering the choice of twin 1550hp MAN V12s for those who want to push the performance of the Riviera 645 SUV even higher.

4. It’s at the cutting edge of marine technology

Sitting at the helm of the Riviera 645 SUV will be like sitting at the cusp of cutting-edge marine technology – but without any hint of intimidation.

The broad, deep three-seat helm console can mount three large touchscreen displays across its expanse that allow the skipper to monitor every part of the Riviera 645 SUV, from cameras in the engine room to the ambient lighting throughout the boat.

The helm features joystick control for easily maneuvering the Riviera 645 SUV into a tight berth, or even just holding station at the press of a button as you reel in a big fish.

The Riviera 645 SUV is also equipped with the latest in audio entertainment, as well as flat-screen TVs, with the boat’s CZone electronics also able to be controlled via a handheld tablet, everything from dimming the saloon’s lights to placing the entire vessel in power-minimising hibernation back at the marina.

5. You like fishing? So does the Riviera 645 SUV

Trolling for sport fish or even just snaring a table-sized flathead for dinner can offer just as much appeal to motor yacht owners as it does trailer boaters.

If you enjoy your fishing, the Riviera 645 SUV can cater to your needs. The new model has the largest cockpit of the entire SUV line-up, with an option to replace a bench that backs onto the transom with a plumbed live bait tank, including a viewing window and lighting.

The bulwarks feature recessed rod holders, and twin transom doors provide easy access to the swim deck.

Those more interested in the social side of the Riviera 645 SUV than the fishing can enjoy the shaded alfresco area that divides the saloon and cockpit spaces, providing a stadium-style viewing platform of the action below.
