This 450hp Yamaha V6 is the most powerful six-cylinder outboard on the planet

Create a 450hp V6 Yamaha with this bolt-on Supercharger Upgrade Kit from Nizpro Marine

After extensive testing, Melbourne-based Nizpro Marine is poised to release its Supercharger Upgrade Kit for the Yamaha 4.2L V6 VMAX SHO and Offshore outboard engines.

The aftermarket kit turns a V6 200hp Yamaha outboard into a 450hp beast with the distinction of being the most powerful six-cylinder outboard engine on the planet.

"If I'm a bit vague talking to you it's because we've been fielding calls all night from hundreds of Americans," said Simon Gischus from Nizpro Marine in Melbourne in the wake of his viral social-media teaser video of the 450s.

At a rev-limited 6400rpm wide-open-throttle on a Force F19X social ski boat, the 450s Yamaha created a sizzling 107mph or 172kmh top speed.

The direct bolt-on Nizpro/Eaton TVS 1900 Supercharger has also been tested over 7000rpm for durability purposes.

THE MOST POWERFUL
Nizpro says it has had a goal over the past few years to produce the most powerful six-cylinder marine outboard in the world.

The aftermarket plug-and-play supercharger kit deliver hitherto new levels of power with value for money.

We’re told the cost will be around US$10k and the direct-fit supercharger upgrade is said to take only a few hours to install.

The system uses an Eaton TVS R1900 Twin Vortices Series (TVS) Rotating Assembly with intercooler to produce 450hp from 5200rpm to 6200rpm at 7psi positive pressure.

There is 90 per cent of engine torque available from 3000rpm to 6200rpm and the unit adds just 25kg to existing F and VMAX Series engines.

With a power to weight ratio of between 0.75 -0.81 horsepower per pound, the result is the most powerful six-cylinder outboard engine money can buy.

VALUE FOR MONEY
Nizpro Marina makes the point that compared to running twin 225hp Yamaha six-cylinder outboards, Nizpro Marine’s Supercharged 450s Yamaha is 252kg lighter with no additional drag through water and no additional service costs.

The aftermarket company has plans to offer lower unit options and different gear ratios for faster top-end speeds in future.

In the meantime, the testing has been more about durability and, having passed in flying red colours, the aftermarket supercharger is now at a point where it’s ready to launch.

The official launch of the Supercharger Upgrade Kit for the Yamaha 4.2lt V6 is the SEMA Show from October 31-November 3, 2017, in Las Vegas.

While Yamaha Australia says warranty to the host engine does not apply "due to the nature of this product, Nizpro will warrant its supercharger.

Since the social-media teaser and launch on April, Nizpro Marine in the Melbourne suburb of Bayswater has received hundreds of calls from mainly revved up Americans rearing to go.
