Launched with a set of virtual reality glasses at the 2017 Düsseldorf boat show in January and in the flesh or fibreglass in July, the new Bavaria E34 is the latest and the smallest addition the German boatbuilder’s E Line of electric-hybrid-powered motor cruisers.
After test runs in July, the new boat will embark on summer tour of various European cities for promotional purposes.
The new Bavaria E34 comes in sedan or flybridge versions, but both variants are said to be unique for this size of boat. As a catchphrase, Bavaria says the E Line is an e-volution
TWIN CABINS
With an overall length of 10.3m, the modest 34-footer somehow manages to fit in twin cabins, twin bathrooms and a large saloon with a unique 360-degree views.
The two cabins are said to be generously laid-out and owners can choose between a separate shower or an additional large storage space in the bow.
CENTRE HELM
Unusually, the internal helm is in the centre of the saloon, giving the skipper a perfect overview of the cruiser from centre stage. This is the same layout as the E40.
Forward of the helm is the galley and a saloon table for doing dinner at night. Behind the helm is the large cockpit to soak up the sun and have fun on the foldable bathing platform. There is also a large sunpad on the bow.
VOLVO POWER OPTIONS
The E34 is powered with Volvo Penta 60, 110 and 220 horsepower diesel engines for economical cruising. Along with the Bavaria E40, the new smaller sister ship is available with a diesel-electric-hybrid propulsion option.
The first public appearance of the first Bavaria E34 will take place at the Bavaria open days at the end of June 2017 in Europe.
Ostensibly, the E34 is a very European concept and design. But given the popularity of the old Island Gypsy 32 and smaller Clipper cruisers in hire fleets in Australia, the boat may well be a good fit for waterways like the fjord-like Hawkesbury or Gippsland.
