The first two of the China-built FarEast 28s have arrived in Queensland. The budget-priced racers are sure to kick on with over 70 having been built since last year.
Distributor G-Force Marine said that the one-design rules are just about finalised and the first European Championships will be held in September.
G-Force says that the introductory price for the yachts is $67,680 plus sails and instruments which is around half that of some competitors.
The FarEast 28R is constructed using a polyester/foam-core sandwich which is vacuum infused. This advanced building technique guarantees a light and rigid hull. The FarEast 28R is very well equipped with high-end deck gear and rigging.
The easily trailerable FarEast 28R can be launched and mast stepped in only 20 mins for hassle free sailing, we're told.
Standard setup includes Selden spars and rigging, Harken winches, blocks, tracks and Spinlock organisers and clutches.
According to the importer, the FarEast 28R is not only a quick one-design boat but it rates well under IRC as well. Recently a FarEast 28R took out the IRC1 division in the Deltaweek regatta in Holland.
More immediately, the FarEast28R has been on show at Airlie Beach Race Week this week, alongside the tent at the Whitsunday Sailing Club. Two have arrived in Australia already and at this price, with affordable shipping inside a container, more are sure to be on the way.
