Racing in the EC Griffith Cup, the main event in the Australian Thunder Boat Grand Prix series, takes place this weekend (November 12-13) at Yarrawonga in Victoria.
So prestigious is the EC Griffith Cup that it is the world’s second oldest motorsport competitive trophy having been run since 1910. Today, the race attract the fastest race boats on the planet and everyone is invited to hear the roar and excitement of the big day out.
The Australia versus New Zealand competition will see four Kiwi unlimited hydros taking on our best Australian Unlimited hydros with GP1, Warlord and others representing the home field.
As the race boats are capable of well over 150mph and race sponson-to-sponson, throwing a mass of water, it's sure to be a fast, loud and exhilarating spectacle.
Over the course of the weekend there will be various other boat race classes ranging from Unlimited Hydro’s, F1 Outboard Tunnel boats, 6 Litre V8 inboards, Outboard mono boats and junior classes to name a few.
As well as the boat racing, there will be plenty to do for the family with displays, driver signings, open pits for close up viewing, food trucks and even jet-ski exhibitions, plus more.
