This will be a unique event being a soft plastics-only, cast-and-retrieve, catch-and-release competition, with each angler recording his catch(es) on a digital camera.
Dave Moss will have the Reef Science tank on site with a display of snapper inside, and a select group of boats will be nominated to bring in live snapper to give locals and visitors alike a fins-to-face look at this iconic fish.
Dave Irvine passed away earlier this year and, for those of you who aren't aware, was the designer and manufacturer of the world famous Environet and Brag Mat, as well as a gun local angler.
The competition will help preserve his memory and recognise his efforts at bringing the catch-and-release philosophy to the wider recreational angling community.
There's a heap of great prizes up for grabs, with sponsors like Dunphy Sports (Shimano), Fishing Tackle Australia and the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club already on board, and the tournament satchels are going to have some pretty exciting goodies in them as well.
The tournament will be run under the rules and regulations of the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club, and be sure to get in quick as there is a limit of 150 anglers.
