The yard has now added a Superyacht Ready accreditation to its Golden Anchor status, a rating applied by the Australia-based Marina Industries Association that recognises that as well as being one of Australia’s best marinas, The Boat Works is now qualified as ready to receive superyachts.
The Superyacht Ready rating means that Coomera-based The Boat Works is set up to cater for the specialised needs of superyacht owners.
In late 2020, the yard added a 300-tonne travel lift and capacity to berth superyachts stretching up to 70 metres in length. The works were part of a $100 million expansion of the yard that doubled its size.
The purpose-built marina also has enough berthing for 15 superyachts up to 50 metres in length.
Marina Industry Association Chief Executive Suzanne Davies said The Boat Works’ Superyacht Ready status was a well-earned milestone for the facility.
“The Boat Works has been an industry leader in the services and facilities it provides to superyachts and it’s great to see the marina join the Gold Anchor and Superyacht Ready program,” Davies said.
“The Boat Works successfully satisfied the program’s assessment standards with strict criteria based around the suitability of the marina’s infrastructure to accommodate superyachts, accessibility for superyachts, security measures and service availability.
“As the latest Gold Anchor and Superyacht Ready-accredited marina, they will be high on the list of destinations for superyacht captains to consider.”
The 44.5-metre, 445-tonne aluminium Sanlorenzo superyacht AIX, newly bought by its French-Australian owner, arrived in Australia in November last year and underwent its pre-season cruising service and maintenance at The Boat Works.
“Lifting AIX is testament to our reputation catering to superyachts across the facility with marina, hardstand and within the multiple super and mega sheds which were purpose-built at 20 metres in height,” The Boat Works Marina Manager, Shane Subichin, said.
“This superyacht’s requirements were very specific and our team worked around the clock to ensure we met their schedule and expectations.”
Built last year, AIX will join Australia’s charter fleet as one of its largest and newest, and with around 2000 nautical miles of range, has ample cruising ability.
The boat has capacity onboard for up to 10 guests across five cabins, and up to nine crew.
A week of charter costs $350,000 not including expenses.
